People
People are at the heart of everything we do – from working with communities to build the renewable projects that reduce emissions, to ensuring that our colleagues come home safely from work every day. People enable us to drive the green energy transition that is vital for us and generations to come.
Community Benefit Fund
A key feature of the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) is that all renewable projects must establish a Community Benefit Fund to be used for the wider economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the local community. With a value of €2 per megawatt hour, communities can decide how to use the funding to deliver and support projects that have enduring economic, social and cultural benefits.
Some of the community benefit initiatives rolled out as a result of renewable energy projects developed by Statkraft in Ireland include:
• Support for outdoor amenity areas
• Retrofitting housing schemes
• Energy efficiency schemes
• Educational supports
• Community spaces for locals
• Biodiversity initiatives
The safety of our staff
A safe and healthy work environment is vitally important to use whatever country we are operating in, and whatever the project. We are committed to preventing incidents and promoting a workplace without injury or harm to our employees, business partners and local stakeholders.
Constructing wind turbines and installing solar panels and batteries is complex, challenging work. Whether it is constructing, operating or maintaining these projects, there can be risks involved.
Our goal is that everyone should return home safely from work, and that those impacted by our operations should be safeguarded. We constantly work to improve and expand our internal and external health-and-safety initiatives.
